Single Parents Mingle by Double Dating with Other Parents
Double dating can be a great way for two single parents to have fun with other parents who are also single and dating or married.
Double dating can provide safety in numbers as well, especially when you are just starting to get to know someone. As well, if one or both of you are nervous about starting to date again, it can be a great way to break the ice and take some of the pressure off going out on a date. When choosing a couple to double date with, make sure you invite people that you like and will say good things about you and not say things that are meant to be funny, but end up making you feel stupid instead. (I speak from experience there) You want this to be a positive experience, and a way for the person you are dating to see you in a positive light. It is good idea for you to double date with people that you know as well as people that your date knows. This will allow you the opportunity to get to know the type of people that the person you are dating likes to hang out with.
As well, when single parents mingle with other parents, it provides a great opportunity for the dating parents to see one another in a different light. If you are at a point in your relationship where you have met one another’s children, it can be important to get away from the hustle and bustle of being parents, and seeing how you would get along as possible partners, not just two parents. I believe that it is important to know how the person you are dating relates to other people, and how he/she gets along with some of your friends. I know that my husband and I really enjoy getting together with other parents as I get to see my husband in an environment separate from our parenting duties. So make sure that you include double dating so that you can mingle with others when you are dating. It will tell you lots about the other person that you are dating, and will help you decide if you want to get to continue dating him/her.
