Single Parent Statistics
If you are curious to know what the single parent statistics are, here are a few from 2008 in the United States:
- In 1970, there were 5% of single-parent households. In 2008, there were 9% of single parent-households.
- This corresponds to twelve million single-parents homes in 2008. Ten million of these are headed by single mothers, whereas two million are headed by single fathers.
- About sixty-seven percent of children live with two married parents.
- About thirty-eight percent of homes with unmarried, opposite gender couples have a minimum of one biological child that belongs to one of the partners.
