If you are a single parent looking to meet other single parents who also want to date, here are some ideas of where and how to meet others:

• You must put yourself out there where other parents are.  Where do other parents frequent?  Depending on the age of your children, you may find single parent groups that run in your neighborhood for moms and dads of children under the age of five.  If there is no group in your area that is dedicated to single parents, consider starting one up yourself.  You can put an advertisement in your local newspaper or perhaps post bulletins advertising your new group.  Consider contacting the local media to gain more exposure for your single parents’ group.  Make sure that it is clear that it is for single parents, moms AND dads to go to.
• Get involved in your children’s activities.  You are bound to meet parents this way too.  It make take some sifting to find out which parents are single, but you will eventually meet other single parents this way and may even be able to strike up more of a relationship.
• Ask your friends and family if they know any single parents that would be a possible fit for you, based on what they know about you.
• You are likely to meet people that you work with that are single parents and interested in dating.  Just begin with a friendship and see where it goes from there.
• Consider online dating.  There are a lot of good, decent people who are posting their profiles, because they are looking for the same thing as you – a friend who understands what it is like to be a single parent.  There are online dating sites that are dedicated to single parents.  You can sign up for a free profile, and check it out before even having to post your own picture or information describing yourself.
