Online dating has become a popular way to meet other people.  It is extremely beneficial for parents dating, who want to save time and meet a lot of people without having to leave the house to meet those people.  So, if you will be doing online dating, you need to present yourself in the best light.  After all, it is your profile on these dating sites that makes the first impression for other people looking to meet others.  In what follows, I will provide you with some great tips on creating a great profile that will get you noticed.

• Be Truthful - Remember that you are looking for someone who will be interested in you for who you are, not who you pretend to be.  It can be tempting to make your profile a bit more interesting with little white lies, but this will just hurt you in the long-run.
• Create an Interesting Headline - You want something that is catchy, easy to remember, and makes the reader want to continue reading the rest of your profile.
• Do Not Provide Personal Identifying Information - You have to be careful as you don’t know if the other people you meet online are who they say they are.  Do not use your real name, do not include the names of your children, do not include your home phone number and address.  Also, be sure to create and use a free gmail or hotmail address for correspondence.  Be sure that this email address does not include your real name in the “From” category when you send out emails.
• Post a Photo – This has been found to increase effectiveness of your profile.  However, you want to make sure you include a recent photo.  Eventually, you may meet and you have posted a photo from a decade ago when you had long hair and were not overweight, can be deceptive.  This is not a good way to begin a new relationship.
• Include Important Information – remember once again that you are looking for someone that you will be compatible with, so the more specific details you can provide, the better it is.  Include information on your specific music interests (when I say specific, I mean include band names), T.V. interests, hobbies that you actually do, your religious beliefs, and so on.
• Stand Out from the Crowd – Make sure to make your profile interesting and fun to read.  No one wants to read a boring profile.  Make your personality stand out in your profile.
